Hi Dana, thanks for the video and the pattern! I would like to make the straps longer, I can just add a couple of inches, right? Would I still measure down 10" from the strap top? Did that make sense? 🤔

Making this was so fast & easy! It was a chance for me to try the sturdy outdoor type fabric. It was tough pulling through (I got a blister) but it really holds up nicely! Next time I'll shorten (or lengthen?) the 10" strap sewing line to hopefully create a bigger opening to pull through. I can't wait to make more of these! My friends & family will be getting plenty for book bags, dance bags, sports bags, grocery bags....yeppers! :)

Ahhhh, I fell in love with your easy-to-follow video and started right away. I’ve always wanted a bag like this and thought it would be easy for me. However,it took me longer than imagined, and after a week passed I decided it wasn’t you or your great video that made me take so long (it’s still not done but almost) it was me! Yay! I absolutely love love love your channel. I am self taught so naturally I learned everything watching youtube tutorials lol and books. Thank you for clearly explaining and showing us everything we need to make and actually finish beautiful projects. You're so down to earth and awesome I feel like I'm hanging out with my girlfriends having a sewing session. Which makes whatever project I'm taking on a lot less daunting and stressful. Finding your Channel completely renewed my love of sewing and creating. I had gotten so overwhelmed and down on myself due to lots of failures. I literally just bought a sewing machine, fabric, thread and some zippers one day, and assumed that that was all I needed (🤦🏽oy vey) and it would be a breeze. Anyways I just wanted to thank you for your extremely helpful content and tips and you being you because you're awesome and I cannot wait to make this bag!!! 🤗😁😊

I sew three of the straps all the way to about 3 inches from the top. The fourth strap I sew one side to the same 3 inches from the top. I leave the other side open and turn through that larger opening and the just have one side to sew together before sewing the top seam of each strap. Makes it so much easier to turn and also get them all to match. Love this pattern and have made many. Most of mine have pockets inside and out. Thank you!

Oh My God! Dana - for once - I may be able to pay you back for all of your great sewing advice. .
About five years ago I bought a bag like this from a very famous and expensive department store in England “Liberty of London” and much to my own horror proceeded to take it apart so I could work out how to make my own. My resulting pattern was very similar to yours but the technique very different with the same result.
I must try to remind myself how I did it so I can show you. I’d love you to share my technique with your audience. “The British version” perhaps?

Thank you, this is a wonderful project for young beginners ( or beginners of any age ). Thank you for not sewing over pins. It literally makes me feel sick when I see people doing it. I have a variety of machines and I'd not want any broken but I sure would hate damage and an expensive repair on my sewing/embroidery combo machines. So many people think it's OK and it really isn't. I'll let you know how my granddaughter goes with her first tote :)

I make and sell Kitchen Boa’s at the Farmer’s Market. A client asked me if I would make her a hippie boho bag. I told her I have never made one and wasn’t even sure I could. She had all the confidence in me that I lacked in myself. After the market I came home and started looking for patterns. Could not find one that was right. So, came to RUclips and found this video. I have cut out all of the fabric but haven’t sewn it yet. Since this was to be a crossbody bag I lengthened the straps quite a bit. I hope it still turns out. Only thing is I won’t be able to measure the strap for 10” before sewing. You have made it look so easy except the part of turning the bag right side out. Thank you

Love this bag. I would like mine as a across the body just so it doesn't slip of my shoulder when walking. How many centimeters should I extend the straps by to have easy access to the bag while wearing it?

I have been watching almost all of your videos. I need some help with material. Could you do a video on the different material and what should and shouldn’t put together. How to match pieces and what doesn’t look good??
